Quartz Glass & Fused Silica (Custom Machining & Fabrication)

Quartz glass (Fused Silica) is an extraordinary material engineered for extreme environments. Consisting of near-pure silicon dioxide (SiO2 > 99.99%), it offers unmatched thermal resistance, exceptional optical transmission from UV to IR, and outstanding chemical durability.

We do not just supply raw quartz materials; we specialize in the precision machining, polishing, and fabrication of custom quartz components tailored exactly to your engineering drawings.

Details Introduction

Key Properties of Our Quartz Glass

Clients choose our quartz parts when standard glass fails. Its core advantages include:

  • Extreme Heat Resistance: Withstands continuous operating temperatures up to 1100°C (2000°F) and short-term peaks up to 1200°C.
  • Thermal Shock Resistance: An ultra-low Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE ~0.55 x 10⁻⁶/°C) allows it to survive rapid, extreme temperature changes without cracking.
  • Optical Clarity: Broad transmission range. Depending on the grade, it transmits deep Ultraviolet (UV), Visible, and Infrared (IR) light.
  • Chemical Purity & Inertness: Highly resistant to water, salt solutions, and acids (except hydrofluoric and hot phosphoric acid), making it ideal for semiconductor and lab use.

Quartz Grades We Process

We select the appropriate grade based on your specific optical or industrial application:

  • JGS1 (Synthetic Fused Silica): Ultra-high purity. Excellent for deep UV (Ultraviolet) and laser applications.
  • JGS2 (Fused Quartz): High-quality optical grade for visible light and general optical components.
  • JGS3 (Infrared Quartz): Specifically formulated for high transmission in the Infrared (IR) spectrum.
  • Industrial Grade Quartz: Used for high-temperature furnace tubes, sight glasses, and semiconductor carriers.

Custom Quartz Products We Manufacture

Because of its hardness and brittleness, quartz requires specialized tooling. We routinely manufacture:

  • High-Temp Windows & Sight Glasses: For furnaces, vacuum chambers, and high-pressure reactors.
  • Semiconductor Substrates & Wafers: Polished fused silica wafers (dummy wafers, carrier wafers) with ultra-flat surfaces.
  • Custom CNC Quartz Parts: Flanges, rings, plates, and complex geometries used in semiconductor etching and deposition equipment.
  • Quartz Tubes & Rods: Precision cut, polished, or thermally formed for heating elements, UV lamps, and chemical processing.
  • Laboratory & Microfluidic Chips: Custom-etched or drilled substrates for chemical analysis.

Our Quartz Machining Capabilities

Working with quartz is vastly different from processing standard glass. Our facility is equipped with:

  • Precision CNC Grinding & Milling: Machining complex shapes, tight tolerance steps, and grooves with diamond tooling.
  • Optical Polishing: Achieving high surface quality (Scratch/Dig specs) and exceptional flatness for optical windows and wafers.
  • Micro-Drilling: Drilling highly accurate holes without edge chipping or micro-fractures.
  • Thermal Processing (Welding/Fusing): Glassblowing and thermal fusing of tubes, flanges, and joints for custom laboratory apparatus and reactor vessels.
  • Annealing: Relieving internal stress after machining to ensure structural integrity under high temperatures.
