Optical Materials We Frequently Process
We work with a wide range of optical materials depending on the required refractive index and transmission range:
- K9 / BK7 Glass: The most common high-quality optical glass for visible light applications. Excellent for lenses, prisms, and windows.
- Fused Silica (JGS1, JGS2, JGS3): Essential for UV and high-temperature applications. High purity and excellent thermal stability.
- Sapphire Glass: Extremely hard and scratch-resistant. Ideal for high-pressure environments and infrared (IR) windows.
- Color Filter Glass: Specifically designed to transmit or block certain wavelengths (UV, Visible, IR).
- Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) Glass: Used in high-end imaging to minimize chromatic aberration.
Optical Components We Have Custom-Made
To give you an idea of our manufacturing scope, here are some typical cases we handle:
- Precision Optical Windows: Protective windows for cameras, sensors, and laser cutting heads.
- Prisms & Beam Splitters: Custom-angled blocks for light reflection, deviation, or splitting.
- Optical Wedges & Filters: Circular or rectangular filters with specific edge-grinding and thickness tolerances.
- Micro-Optics: Tiny glass components for endoscopes, fiber optics, and miniature sensors.
- Ball Lenses & Half-Ball Lenses: High-precision spheres used for fiber coupling and endoscopic imaging.
- Mirror Substrates: Ultra-flat glass blanks ready for high-reflectivity metallic or dielectric coating.
Our Optical Fabrication Capabilities
Our shop is equipped to move from raw cutting to fine optical polishing:
- Precision CNC Shaping: Cutting complex geometries, steps, and notches with high dimensional accuracy.
- Double-Sided Polishing: Achieving exceptional flatness and parallelism for windows and filters.
- Surface Quality Control: We can meet specific scratch-dig requirements (e.g., 60/40, 40/20, or better) depending on your needs.
- Centering & Edging: Ensuring the optical axis is perfectly aligned with the mechanical edge of the lens.
- Optical Coatings: We offer Anti-Reflective (AR), High-Reflective (HR), and Bandpass coatings to optimize light performance.
- Ultrasonic Cleaning: Ensuring all components are free from contaminants before final inspection and vacuum packaging.
Send Us Your Optical Specifications
We understand that in optics, even a tiny deviation matters. We support everything from low-volume R&D prototypes to consistent mass production for OEMs.
Ready for a technical evaluation? Send us your CAD files or PDF drawings. Please specify the Material Type, Surface Quality (Scratch/Dig), Flatness, and Coating requirements. Our technical team will review your specs and provide a straightforward quote.
